About Prague
Prague is one of the most beautiful, romantic and best preserved historical cities in Europe. Praha, as the Czechs call it, is an amazing blend of many architectural styles of old and modern architecture, with the Baroque and Cubist buildings quite unique. The whole inner city is a protected historical area, with over 1,700 cultural monuments, hundreds of ancient houses, palaces and churches, old lanes and beautiful gardens.
The Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Charles Bridge, Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana) are just a few of the many wonderful attractions that Prague offers. History at every step through the narrow streets of the Jewish Quarter; visit the National Gallery and the exquisite churches, the numerous shops and galleries. In addition to its historic sights, Prague is a busy cultural centre, boasting many art galleries, museums, concert and opera halls and theatres.
About Cesky Krumlov
Cesky Krumlov is situated some 160 km south of Prague, near the border with Austria. This picturesque UNESCO protected town lies in a deep, meandering valley of the Vltava river in southern Bohemia. Its golden age came about during the rule (1302-1602) of the Lords of Rozmberk. The Italian Renaissance greatly influenced the appearance of the town and its castle.
The town has more than 300 historical buildings and presents itself to visitors also as a hub of culture, conventions and tourism. The International Music Festival takes place annually, as does a festival of Renaissance music.
A hotel we often use for our incentive award winners started as a Jesuit school dating from the 16th century. Of course, every modern feature enhances the experience!
Day 1, Sunday
Note: Each days starts with a full hot and cold buffet breakfast with international and local dishes featured.
Arrival at Prague Ruzyne International Airport and transfer to hotel.
Guided tour of the Castle and its Baroque Theatre., one of the best preserved Baroque theatres in existence. Features: Baroque stage technologies, including instruments for the production of weather sounds such as rain, wind and thunder.
Afterwards, arrive at your hotel with a light lunch.
Evening Welcome Dinner at the hotel, in the magnificent Jesuit Hall
Day 2, Monday
Walking tour of the Old Town, 14th to 17th century, an inspiration for artists always. 3 hours.
Lunch on your own, with our expert recommendations.
After lunch visits to several famous galleries and artist workshops, especially in ceramics, crystal and forged iron, several of which are in restored venues.
This evening is very special! Dinner at the Restaurant Krumlovsky Mlyn, www.krumlovskymlym.cz. Krumlov Mill, dating from 1546, is one of the largest Renaissance buildings in Cesky Krumlov, situated on the bank of Vltava River above the water channel leading to the windmill. It is actually a museum of historical motorcycles (classic Harley Davidsons) and an antique gallery of paintings.
Day 3, Tuesday
Luggage ready, please.
8:30 am Depature from the hotel, the first stop in 40 minutes at Hluboka Castle. Here is a monumental Romantic chateau; originally a Gothic castle, then remodeled in the Baroque style of the 18th century--further enhanced in the English Windsor style in the 19th century.
The pace and vision change, as the next visit is to the famous Budweiss Brewery. A tour of the brewery is followed with enjoyment of a typical Czech lunch.
After lunch continue by coach to Prague…some welcome relaxation along the way. Expected time of arrival in Prague is 5.30-6pm
We hope to accommodate your group is a 5* deluxe hotel in city centre.
In the evening at 7.45 pm our coach wisks us to Fleku, a Czech Traditional Brewery Folklore Restaurant located in the Old City. After dinner we return to the hotel and a good night’s rest!
Day 4, Wednesday
Starting the half day guided city tour. First the castle through the impressive gate and to St. Vitus Cathedral. Here, from the hilltop, one is thrilled by the panoramic view onto the whole city of Prague, its river and bridges. Then by foot to Golden Lane through the Kings Way to Mala Strana (Lesser Town) and on to famous Charles Bridge.
After the tour, enjoy a memorable lunch at Dinitz Restaurant in the centre of the city.
Then the visit continues, with memorable stops at: Town Hall, the Art Nouveau style buildings, Tower Powder from the 14th century, formerly the gate of the Old City. Cross the pedestrian street to Wenceslav Square, Prague’s striking main gathering site. Now the National Museum, the Opera House, the Statue of St. Wenceslav and the memorial site of Jan Palach, national hero who self-immolated protesting the invasion of the Soviets in 1968.
Time for rest and relaxation, with dinner on your own this evening.
Day 5, Thursday
Depart this morning for the very full day’s guided tour of Terezin.
This is a visit of the former “model” Nazi concentration camp. Visit the fortress and Jewish Cemetery; the Museum, Memorial Monument, the small fortress and the hidden synagogue, as well as the town of Terezin itself. Lunch during this day included.
Return to the hotel to rest and be ready for…
5.30 pm Departure for the 6pm performance of the Black Light Theatre. Afterwards we stroll back to the hotel for a special Italian Style dinner.
Day 6, Friday
9 am: Treasure Hunt Day!
The group will be divided into 10 teams of approximately 12 persons each.
Each team must answer questions about the culture and history of Prague and the Czech Republic. Each team will have one brochure, filling in answers together. The teams will have to return to some sites and fill the printed questionnaire. This will be a fun event that will take place from 9am to 12.30pm, followed by lunch and the afternoon on your own.
Your Gala Evening
7pm Stroll to The Municipal House for the Gala Dinner at Francouszka Restaurant.
Day 7, Saturday
Luggage outside the rooms by 8am, please. It is time to return home, taking memories of everything explored and discovered in Cesky Krumlov and Prague.
9:45 am: Depart the hotel to the airport. Our assist to make the group’s departure as smooth as possible.
